one of my good guy friends just asked me to prom... i said yes if we go as "friends". now he's being really flirty with me. he's really sweet, but none of my friends really like him. i totally obsess over what people think of me. i'm already getting crap about going with him. i actually really like him, and i have no idea what to do.

1| here are two different points you can think about...

1st-- you can go with him because you want to... and you can stop pleasing your friends. you don't want to be that person for the rest of your life. you like him... who cares?!

or

2nd-- it's just high school... it's not like you're going to marry him. and your friends will look at you differently and probably treat you differently if you did decide to date him. and that's hard. i've been there...

2| first of all, screw your damn friends, if they were friends they would just want you to be happy and not worry about "image".

nothing matters but what makes you happy. just remember that.

dont be sucked into revolving your life around peoples opinions. you will be miserable.

3| don't worry about what other people thing - go and have a good time. if you like him - go for it, your friends can't tell what what is right or wrong to feel. if you feel good about him, see what happens.

4| listen sister, if you go through life trying to please everyone, you will go insane. you should live your life your way, not theirs. high school is not what real life is like. better you find this out now, so you can be the better person for the rest of your life. you're still so young! go to the prom with this guy! if you like him, stay with him... friends should be supportive of you no matter what. this may be an eye opener to see who your real friends are. who knows? this guy might turn out to be the one. he might turn out to be just a friend. but if you don't give things a chance, you will never know.

i really hope you make the right decision and have a great prom.

9| high school was so stupid. looking back, i am so happy i didn't care what others thought of me. my best friend and i always made fun of our mutual best friend for caring so much of what others thought of him. we made up rumors just to get him all freaked out. it was awesome!
